Leaders are empathisers & engrs, diplomats & disruptors

I’ve always been deeply curious about how things work – what enables the human heart to pump blood, or what mechanisms power a car engine. This innate curiosity, paired with a passion for driving, naturally steered me toward the automotive industry.

While innovations like autonomous driving and immersive digital experiences are exciting, what truly captivates me is the industry’s relentless drive for reinvention. This constant transformation calls for leaders who can evolve just as rapidly.

Dealing with chaos:
Every role I’ve taken on has brought its own form of chaos, whether in the form of quality challenges or complex team dynamics. Over time, I’ve learned to embody the qualities of water: calm under pressure, adaptable to change, and able to integrate seamlessly into any environment. This mindset reshaped how I approached adversity.

During a major launch, I encountered internal scepticism around the feasibility of our proposed solutions, the robustness of our quality assurance measures, the tight timeline, and the overall value of certain features. Instead of stepping back, I chose to lean in.

I increased the visibility of my strategic thinking by proactively sharing the rationale behind our decisions in team forums and stakeholder reviews, ensuring everyone understood not just what we were doing, but why. I also created space for open dialogue, encouraging diverse perspectives and constructive feedback.

We celebrated incremental wins along the way, reinforcing how each milestone was moving us closer to our shared goal. This consistent transparency and collaborative approach gradually shifted the narrative. Team members who were initially hesitant began to align with the vision, and by the time we launched, not only had we delivered successfully, but many of those early sceptics had become strong advocates for our strategy.

Harness all your identities:
As leaders, we are multifaceted: engineers and empathisers, strategists and supporters, disruptors and diplomats. We don’t need to choose one identity – we must harness them all. It’s time to stop managing perceptions and start shaping narratives. Frame your questions as strategic inquiries. Celebrate wins by linking them to broader business outcomes. When setbacks occur, lead the post-mortem with clarity and purpose.

We’re no longer just shattering glass ceilings, we’re architecting new pathways for others to follow. To every woman entering the tech world: cultivate your confidence, stay insatiably curious, and stay ahead of technological change. Confront bias with resilience, and lead with unapologetic boldness.

With steadfast focus and determination, success becomes more than a destination – it becomes a testament to your journey!”
